The short guide

The five rules of a pricing page that converts

  1. Anchor with three tiers. The middle tier is the one most people pick — design every other tier to make the middle look like the obvious choice. The free tier should feel limiting; the premium tier should feel excessive for most. The middle should feel exactly right.
  2. Highlight one tier. Use a colored border, "Most popular" badge, or subtle background tint. Decision-flow design: tell the visitor what most people pick. Their brain thanks you for removing a decision.
  3. Lead with the outcome, not the count. "Custom domain + SSL" beats "5 domain slots." "Full AI generation, no usage cap" beats "25,000 tokens." Translate every feature into what the user actually gets to do.
  4. Make the FAQ do half the work. 10-15 FAQs below the tiers handle every "but what about…" objection. Order them by frequency, not by difficulty.
  5. Always show price. "Contact us for pricing" loses 60% of qualified leads on click-through. Even enterprise should show "Starts at $X" or "Typical deals $10K-$100K". Hiding price is a tax on growth.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How many pricing tiers should I have?

Three is the standard for B2B SaaS — Free, Pro, Premium (or Free, Team, Enterprise). Three tiers create an obvious 'most people pick the middle' anchor, which is the tier you want them on. Two tiers (Carrd-style Free + Paid) works when there's a single sharp upgrade hook like 'custom domain'. Four tiers works when you genuinely have an enterprise motion. Avoid five — it overwhelms.

Should I highlight the middle tier?

Yes, almost always. Highlighting (border, background tint, 'Most popular' badge) is decision-flow design — it tells the visitor what most people pick, which removes a decision burden. The highlighted tier is also the tier you want most people on for unit economics. Pick that tier deliberately, then highlight it.

Monthly or annual default?

If you want lower CAC and higher LTV, default annual with a 'Save 2 months' visual cue. If you want low-friction signup, default monthly. The right answer depends on your business model. Most B2B defaults to monthly because it lowers the activation barrier; most consumer subscription brands default to annual because retention is the problem to solve.

What goes in the feature comparison table below the cards?

The feature table is the long-form proof, not the marketing. List every feature, group by category (Generation, Hosting, Support, Admin), and show check / X / specific-number for each tier. Rule of thumb: if it's worth a salesperson explaining in a demo call, it's worth a row in the table. Tables of 20-50 rows are normal and not over-cluttered.

Where does the FAQ go on a pricing page?

Below the plan cards but above the final CTA. The FAQ is the highest-converting section on most pricing pages because it answers objections at the point of decision. Common questions: 'What happens at the end of the trial?', 'Can I export my data?', 'Do you offer annual discounts?', 'What's the cancellation policy?', 'How does the free plan limit work?'. Answer every one specifically.

Should I list prices in USD or my local currency?

USD by default for global products. Add a currency selector (US/EUR/GBP/INR/JPY) if a meaningful portion of traffic comes from outside the US — but never auto-localize without a visible toggle, because surprise currency switches feel sketchy. If you do localize, also localize the support email and (if applicable) the legal-entity name.

Should I show pricing if I'm enterprise-only?

Yes, even if it's 'starts at $X' or 'typical deals $10K-$100K/year'. Hiding price entirely sends two signals: (1) we'll price-match-to-your-budget, which lowers trust, and (2) we don't have a public price, which makes you look like you're hiding something. 'Starts at' is the right minimum disclosure for enterprise.

Can I export the pricing page as code?

These are layout templates as data. To get an actual production pricing page as React + Tailwind code, generate a site on Website Killer and ask the AI to "build a pricing page" in chat — it'll produce a fully styled, on-brand pricing page you can edit visually or export as source code. The result is conditioned on your site's design system, not a generic snippet.
